Some people joke about being dropped on their head when they were babies, now imagine that actually happened. Replace the 'on their head' with more of something along the lines of 'into an earthquake fissure'. That explains things briefly. Sarah, after being over exposed to the force, didn't die but rather became part quake herself. She has an intense resonance that she can use to protect allies or dispatch foes in a glorous earth shaking fashion. Some mystics claim the incident was created by Gaia, but that's merely a rumor.
