The SHELLS, appear to be used to contain supernatural powers and entities, turning them into a tangible form. This particular SHELL, known as a fissure to most, is actually a time space tear that's been sealed. It can bend time space to propel, warp, fortify ,and crush objects at its whim. The fissures are not organic, hard to harm with physical and psionic attacks, and are known to snap out of sync with the time stream. The time space fracture could never be funneled into the SHELL without portal corp's technologies and some conspiracies have come up regarding this, mostly because nobody knows for certain what the purpose of the SHELLS are or where they actually came from. Rumor has it that they were developed with portal corp to help with the rescent time fractures in the portals and Ouroboros, but it's uncertain. This fissure SHELL seems to have managed to escaped portal corps and wondered off on its own for some strange reason, but it seems well-meaning at any rate.
