Once upon a time, there was a madman with a vision. That vision was Project Yttria, an unstoppable cadre of hand-tailored supervillains under his complete control, operating with military precision and discipline.

Sadly for the madman, though he was a brilliant scientist, he was something of a literal thinker, a materialist, and ill at ease with the less tangible forces that govern the world unseen.

One moonless autumn night, a slinky sorceress named Vivienne le Fay came to the madman. She promised him power beyond his comprehension, a window into the worlds beyond his mortal vision. He was not a total fool; he asked what price he must pay for her help. But he was still fool enough to accept that price.
