Is this the real Aerith? Didn't she die by Sephiroth's hands? Or could it be a wannabe? Perhaps you should ask Aerith herself. Or Erin Gainey, a descendant of the Mu, as she was known and occasionally called by today. Sought as converts to their cause to dominate the Earth once again, the Circle of Thorns kidnapped Erin and her brother Seifer when they were just teenagers. Raised with a respectful view of her Mu heritage, she refused to join their cult. Her one refuge, as well as Seifer's, was a game she played as a girl, Final Fantasy 7. They survived long enough to witness an Arachnos raid on the temple. The temple too fortified, the Arachnos raid group fell back. Mistaking them as heroes, Seifer gladly escaped with them. As he rode away on an Arachnos Flyer, he saw several Circle mages fly out the entrance. A moment later Erin calmly walked out, but looking like Aerith. The last thing Seifer saw was Erin/Aerith holding her hands together as if she was readying to cast Holy.
