In her waking moments, Rania Dougherty never fears blood.

When she's awake, she's a twentysomething medical intern in the Founders' Falls medical circuit. She's seen all sorts of injuries come her way, ranging from car accidents to heroes hanging on to life by the slimmest of threads.

When she's awake, she is cool, efficient, and wants to help make the world a better place.

But in her dreams?

In her dreams, she hears the thrumming echo of Mayan prophecy, muttered by ancient seers whose names are unpronouncable by modern throats. She hears the warnings of the end times, sputtered from the dead lips of Chac-xib-chac, Lord of the Eastern Sky - of the stars crumbling into dust, of ancient leviathans rising from the deeps to devour the land, of the red, red rain falling upon the scorched world, showering the dusty plains with living blood.

In her waking dreams, she is the Red Rayne, come unto the world.

Let the world howl in despair, for the Red Rayne must fall.
