After losing his parents and his home Ralph Winslow, younger brother of John, was left to roam The Hollows whilst his brother was in a coma. He encountered some wild spectral demons on one of his little trips. He was so bemused by them he just stood there watching them. The demons were also surprised by the fact a human would not run away at first glance.The next day Ralph came back and decided to see if they would be willing to play. Ralph and the spectres were running around like children having fun when a passing Agony Mage spotted the young boy. He saw the boy was not scared of the demons and wanted to initiate him into the Circle of Thorns by tricking him with the offer of powers to control the spectres. Ralph being so young was easily tempted with the offer.John awoke from his coma and beat the Trolls for information on his brother. John managed to get to Ralph's initiation before it was complete. Ralph gained the new powers but was not brainwashed into the Circle of Thorns' way of thinking.
