If you take nothing else away from this history, and believe me, you will take NOTHING else away from this history, its this: If you are ever in charge of the Hittite Pantheon, carry your own damn chalice. The first example of this would be Alalus, who had Anu as his chalice bearer. Anu got sick of being a chalice bearer and buried Alalus deep under the earth, and became king of the gods. This may sound harsh, but as you will see, he got off lucky. Anu appointed Kumarbis as his chalice bearer. He got sick of being a chalice bearer and bit off Anu's phallus. Kumarbis took over, but somehow, got pregnant and gave birth to three gods one of which was the storm god, who deposed him. He then lay with a rock as though it were a woman. The rock gave birth to me. Someday, I will challenge the storm god. Any questions?
