As a country singer, Wayne Jennens had two things going for him: he was loud and the owner of the only bar in Backaholler, Texas was too cheap to pay someone better.Wayne was certain he'd get a lucky break, and he was right. Only for Wayne, his 'lucky break' wasn't an agent for a Nashville record company, but a boozed up minor league pitcher who hurled a full bottle of Shiner Bock at Wayne's head during his last set.

The combination of the beer on the high voltage equipment and the hit on the head knocked Wayne out for two days. He woke to find himself tone-deaf, but able to sing at a volume that could knock a cow off its hooves and produce electricity enough to fry it well done.It was the end of Wayne's singing career, but he figured that if he couldn't be a star one way, he could be another. Armed with a repertoire of songs about broken pickup trucks, faithless women and devoted dogs, Wayne bought a white hat, a Lone Ranger mask and a tin badge and came to Paragon City.
