Character Bio

Abd al-Azrad, aka Abdul Alhazred, was born in Sanna in Yemen, said to be a descendant of the mystical tribe of Ad. He traveled to Egypt and studied magic under the wizard Yakthoob, but in 738 BC fell into a trance-like state during a pilgrimage to Chorazin on the Sea of Galilee.The mystic gazed upon accursed worlds and dimensions including the corpse-city of R'lyeh and its dread master, Cthulhu. He scribed these unspeakable visions in an unholy treatise on the occult, Kitab al-Azif, later translated into the tome now reviled as Necronomicon.In 730 BC, the poet was devoured in the marketplace of Damascus in broad daylight by an invisible monster. Somed claimed his death illusory, but even fewer knew Abd bore himself to the Empty Quarter -- from which he has returned.The mad poet's resurrection, millenia after his legendary death, has caused speculation.
