Ravaged by maurading Stygian Shades from the nether worlds, his mutant
powers activated when his physical form was slain as the Shadows fed upon his
life force. His mutant genes activated, changing his soul in a shadowy wraith-like
creature that immediatly reinhabited his lifeless body, granting him immense
mental powers.

His newfound powers amazed him, but still bitter and enraged he spent years
hunting down clues about the Shades that first killed him. In that search he
eventually met a Shade that he befriended, one that was unlike the others. One
with a spirit and human emotions that he formed a bond with. And together,
they have grown closer to sealing off Earth from Stygia for all time. Yet still he
watches the night skies for the Portals to appear, unleashing his mental horrors
upon any villains that stand in his way.
