Character Bio

The Large Hadron Collider had never been used to examine the quantum state of Dark Energy, but Max believed it could be modified.  There were . . . pressures involved in securing funding and in persuading colleagues to back his proposal. Not enough to break a man, not even enough to delay the project significantly -- just enough to introduce a tiny little divide-by-zero error in the code governing the Shrodinger amplifier.

Whether or not Max would even survive the accident shouldn't have been a question -- the probability of human survival was infinitesimally small. Funny thing, though -- low-probability events seem to be Max's specialty these days.
