I fell...from light?
The air burnt at me, but it gave me little pain. No, I knew the touch of heat from before.
Before.
The memories flit through my mind, eluding me. These times are not my times, they seem too new: I know this for certain. But what was before? This life within me is fresh, but something lingers; it feels ancient, and weary. Time seems to fly around me, but I stand still. I linger. I feel so tired and impatient at once. Treacherous mind. So here I am, amongst humans, knowing I am apart, but ignorant of why. I will do my part, protect their lives again, even as their short lives fade before me.
Just as they did before.
