On the day of the rikti crash landing in Paragon City these new beings decided to take this newfound world as their own. First they would have to wipeout all the people inhabiting the city so they could use it as a launchpad for their assault on the rest of the world. They decided that a mutated form of illness would do the job in bringing the citizens of Paragon City to its knees. They chose to use the virus which causes influenza. They created a being to be a biological weapon to spread the virus throughout the city. Luckily for the inhabitants the Freedom Phalanx got wind of this plot and intervened just in time before the rikti could condition the new being to be a devastating warrior. Instead the Freedom Phalanx group decided to raise him, teaching him of their ways and even gave him the name Flu. So from that day on the Flu fights on the side of good spreading disease only to his enemies.
