Character Bio

Dr. Elaine Saunders was researching sonoluminescence, attempting to demonstrate that high-energy cavitation could induce microfusion events, when an experimental resonator overloaded. In the aftermath of the accident, she found that the resonator had imbued her body with a self-sustaining ultra-high-frequency standing wave. Her touch left surfaces pitted and scorched  as the wave caused tiny explosions until she managed to construct a bodysuit capable of withstanding the resonance.

Containment revealed another problem, however: the wave was self-amplifying as well. If the energy wasn't expended, it would begin to shake her apart. In search of a benign way to use the excess power, she followed in the footsteps of many others changed by the pursuit of science; she became a hero.
