Character Bio

Losing a child is a terrible, terrible thing. Some parents simply can't handle it. When their daughter ran away to become the scourge of the Rogue Isles, Mr. and Mrs. Porter didn't know what to do. They fell apart.

Desperate to have a normal family again, they adopted an orphaned little girl, about their Pollyanna's age. They called her Pollyanna. They did her hair the way their Pollyanna liked to have her hair done. They dressed her in Pollyanna's favorite clothing.

And when their new little girl fought to keep herself the way she had been before, they pumped her full of chemicals to quiet her mind and her tongue.

"Hush, Pollyanna," they cooed as the surgeons arrived. "Everything is alright now."
