Time travel is the worst idea ever.

I'm Elijah Tau Kgosi-Myeong, and I was, or will be, born in the 29th century. That was the same year we declared war on the 31st century, though hostilities had been escalating for a decade. It was getting really desperate by the time I was 16, so I enlisted. Better than being conscripted to work in the genejack factories, anyway.

This was around the time we discovered some idiot had accidentally left temporal shift technology in the 2400s, and their Southern Bloc had sided with the 31st century against us. (Can't blame 'em; everybody knew we'd been pilfering livestock and bodies from them.)

Five long years of fighting, with timelines flickering in and out of existence so fast even our best polyquantum AIs couldn't keep track of them. Time travel makes the future just one more place to fight, and the past just one more thing to fight over. Now I'm here, in my own world's past, and I'll do anything to keep my own timeline from ever existing.
