Theis android hero is the creation of the super group, Black Chapter. Created to be a sentient weapon in the organization's war on crime. Black Mercury is the product of the technological genius of several members of Black Chapter, & even incorperates some design elements from the far future (provided by time-traveling members). Black Mercury is formed from nanite-infused Impervium & is powered by cellular level energy collectors, which absorb & harness cosmic radiation. His brain is a Synthetic Intelligence Unit linked to a Positronic Matrix, making him a self-aware artificial intelligence that can learn & adapt to any given situation.
