Ty Smith was a talented swordsman who grew up watching action shows like Knight Rider and the A-Team and always wanted to be a hero. On a trip to Paragon City to see what he needed to do, he met a group of heroes, dressed in gold and green and was introduced to the Clean Handprints. Trained by their scrapper to an even higher standard and their controllers to master his own willpower, he adopted the name of the The HandPrint as he was their student in the arts of the hero. He joined the group and was sent out on the path to become a full-fledged hero, starting in the plague ridden area of Outbreak
