Character Bio

Johnny Darke used to be a two-bit street thief... an independent, trying to stay low-key enough to avoid the notice of the street gangs until he could deal on his own terms. That is, until he broke into the wrong house.

He thought he'd finally made the big score... he found an emerald hidden away, and he thought the money from fencing it might put him into the big leagues. It did, but not the way he thought.

This was no ordinary gemstone... the emerald was magical, and it infused Johnny with certain powers. He gained incredible regenerative powers, and found that he could channel energy when he fought, to make his fists more lethal. The gem may have even more powers, yet to be discovered.

At first, Johnny continued his criminal ways, but then... something about him changed. He donned a mask and took to the streets as the Emerald Avenger, fighting people who still lived his old life. Nobody knows what prompted the change... was it the emerald, or something else?
