Hidden under Dark Astoria at his Evermoor Facility, the mad Dr. Serpentes bred his would-be minions, mixes of human and animal DNA that he then subjected to torturous augmentation and experimentation to try and boost their powers. Zahin, bred with lupine genetic material, was placed in Project Spartan where he was subjected to a cruel regimen of torturous experiments and painful genetic manipulation mixed with an exhaustive training schedule to try and create a shock trooper for use in the mad doctor's nefarious criminal schemes. The experiments and treatments gave him a vastly boosted ability to withstand pain and heal damage, but the indoctrination portions of the program proved far less successful. When other subjects of Project Spartan staged a breakout, Zahin was quick to join in, helping battle through the minions of Dr. Serpentes to reach the freedom of Paragon City's streets.
