The Luchiuth have been enthusiastic members of the Union of Sentient Starfaring Races for centuries, even though they disdain most other races - including many of the Union - and view them as inferior to themselves in some way or other. Humans in particular, a boisterous and dissipated race in their eyes, are especially distasteful to them, and a source of irritation due to their astoundingly large population (the Luchiuth race numbers only several hundred thousand), which effectively thwarts any attempts to subjugate them. Not to mention that they have to compete with other races that have already drawn their ire, such as the Rikti.

The foremost Luchiuth representative on Earth, Priaxiath-Arluriath, elevated himself to his current position upon discovering a successful pheromonal formula which allows him to compel humans - albeit a very small group - to do his bidding. This he does with great glee and relish, sending them into danger with nary a qualm.
