Scorching Steel is a Fire Elemental stuck in an android body.

In an attempt to create a new generation of Paragon Protectors, one of Crey's fringe scientists set out to enhance an android by using Magical Salvage instead of Tech Salvage.

The result was an unholy infusion of the android's positronic matrix with powerful eldritch energies, accidentally merging the android's Artifical Intelligence itself with a Fire Elemental from the Netherworld. He was reborn as a singular sentient being, now bestowed with something only few A.I.'s or mystical creatures possess: Free Will.

So ofcourse, like any self-respecting Frankensteinian monster, the first thing he did was murder his creator.

The android came to call himself Scorching Steel and he would plague the Rogue Isles for quite some time. But recently, something seems to have changed within Steel. Sources indicate he may have developed a conscience, changed his ways and moved to Paragon City to become a hero.
