Dear Diary,

Jones. Jones is the key. It's true that he's a mutant; that his powers were granted to him by some freak of nature rather than any study of the magic arts. Nonetheless he is proof that Man CAN control the elements.

I must say I'm impressed with the defensive capabilities his mutation has given him and I have decided that I too will focus my energies on mastering the ice. Those pacifist Oranbegans whom Ruffles rescued should be able to fill in the gaps in my understanding of the spells required.

Naturally I won't be telling them about the "channelling Dark energy for offensive power" part of my plan. There's a good chance they wouldn't agree to help me if they knew about that!

That's a secret for you and me to share, Diary. Here's to many more in the months ahead.
