Damn my addiction to those sappy romance novels! If I hadn't been so keen on obtaining a rare copy of "The Carnal Tigress" from a shady Carnival Harlequin Fencer, my life would still be normal. Unbeknownst to me, that skank had cursed the tome so that any who read it would be subjected to a slow, agonizing death.

Fortunately, I was not without some degree of magical knowledge so when I realized what was happening, I tried to counter the spell before it could completely take hold.

Unfortunately, my magical prowess wasn't quite up to par & instead of nullifying the curse, I had altered it. Now, my body is painfully wracked by these execrable spines & a nocuous poison seeps from every pore.

So instead of dying, I only wish I were dead.

To make matters worse, the signature energy from that Fencer's spell passed from the book onto me, permanently altering my appearance. So not only do I have these freakish new abilities, but I'm cursed to look like that Carny bitch as well!
