During one such mission, he was mortally wounded when a mortar shell exploded over his patrol. He was found lying in his own innards by an unusual floating creature. Thinking he was hallucinating because of the pain, Drake decided to ignore everything that was going on around him. He awoke in a hospital in the States - discovering that he had been in a coma for two full weeks. When he regained conciousness, he miraculously recovered fully after a mere four additional days. He had found out that his wounds should have killed him, but he had actually survived in his comatose state for two days before anyone had found him and the remnants of his patrol... He gained some notoriety when, on a jaunt to the Georgia State Fair, he had people coming from miles around just to watch him cut off his hand to allow it to grow back, good as new!While working/living in this carnival troupe, he befriended Guiseppe Genero, the sword swallower of the group. Guiseppe, or GG to his friends, was an accomplished swordsman, and Franky took a liking to using the rapier. He became quite adept with the blade and, thanks to his ambidexterity, he was able to use two blades at once with no difficulty whatsoever.While visiting Rhode Island, he journeyed to Paragon City to see all of the freaks that ran around the city. Petey O'Toole was visiting his cousin in Kings Row last Halloween, when his cousin, let's call him Dumbass to make things simple, suggested they go check out the witches in Croatoa. Petey (from Boston and used to strolling around the neighborhood with friends) thought that was a "wicked great idea!" He'd later pay for strolling there that night... There were five of them, young men with a little bit of 'liquid courage' fueling the fires. They traveled to Croatoa and happened upon two very attractive witches reading spllbooks, minding their own business. Dumbass decided to lay the moves on the ladies, who took the 'ignore the brute' route, not even batting an eye. Dumbass worked on them for a good five minutes, all the while hoots and yelps were being voiced from the remaining four men watching the proceedings.
