She and her colleagues were working on a new, secret project involving moon rocks that had prolonged exposure to sunlight combined with Rikti technology. The government wished to use this technology to help superheroes fight in Paragon City, but first they needed to test it out in the field. Dr. Reynolds decided to create a sword out of the material, called Sunny Moonstone, and used it as an alias to personally test it herself. Over time, Sunny grew resistant to extreme amounts of heat from excessive handling of the sword. Slowly she's been engulfed in luminous flames as she continues her research about the strange effects of what she created and what long-term consequences might be involved.
