This life continued until an incompetent intern left the cage near the sample input chamber. Quantum was out of his cage and in the cozy little cranny in no time. A senior scientist tried to coax him out, but had no luck. Both were still there when irradiated dark matter hit the sample chamber at .96 light speed. The particle accelerator exploded spectacularly. At the blast zone, two entities fused into one, and a small, heavily mutated, dark-matter-infused, human/hedgehog hybrid gained self-awareness. As he heard someone screaming, "The E.E.P.'s gone wild!" a thought filled his mind: Something had forced him from his warm, cozy hiding place, and he wanted to go back. The wings? REALLY mutated.
