Due to his young age, Hospice was able to join a work release program to shorten his sentence. He ended up helping at the police station. He quickly found that the world of heroes was much more glamorous than villainy, where he was treated kindly by strangers rather than have to live the motto of "flight or fight." He continued training with the police in the same precinct as Blue Steel, where he excelled at using the riot shield for personal defense.
