Standard Oil? Microsoft? Those corporations are mere local buisnesses compared to the multi-dimensional Misha Corporation run by Yevgeny Grozny Kolichnikov. A former KGB officer who made his money in post-Soviet Russia by selling Russian oil (legally) and Russian arms and nuclear technologies (illegally), Kolichnikov's company discovered a dimensional portal on Misha oil land in the steppes of Kazakhstan, a rift similar to the portal on Peregrine Island. Kolichnikov proceeded to exploit the rift for his own personal gain, and he is now a billionare in 5 other alternate universes besides our own, at least according to most national intelligence services.
Naturally, he hires mercenaries from the ranks of the Russian mob and military (whom it is believed Kolichnikov has strong ties to) to protect himself and Misha's vast assets. He also protects himself with various devices of extradimensional origin made by Misha Corporation's various R&D units.
