World Renowned Vulcanologist Kyle McLaren and his best friend, Quantum Molecular Geologist Nicholas O'Malley, while doing some beta testing of Kyles recently completed Sonic core extractor on an exploratory dig in the Atlas Mountains accidentally stumbled upon a secret Rikti complex buried deep within the mountains core. Unbeknownst to either explorer the experimental materials that Kyle was using (supplied by a secret government benefactor) contained pirated Rikti hardware and when subjected to the energies of other Rikti weaponry, Kyle's altered tech overheated and exploded, bathing both intrepid explorers in a wave of quantum energy.
