US Army Ranger Captain Maximillian "Max " Odinsen loved legends, stories and mythical mysteries. When Max finished medical school, he returned back to the 3rd. Max's unit received orders taking them to Europe, between duty assignments he started hunting those legends of old.

While overseas in Norway he found himself confronted by fey folk in a cavern and drawn into their mysterious world. He enjoyed several adventures risking life and limb aiding the fey using his skills as a doctor and surgeon. He was found a month later asleep under a tree.

The Army Psycholoigist who examined him stated he was delusional and those events hadn't occured. Later he was cleared back to duty when examined by a Irish mystical hero and discovered that he had been given the Geas of Life and Death by the Fey he had been with.

Due to this special nature he has been accepted to Paragon University for study in Occult Mysteries and has registered as a hero in Paragon City as Dr. Mythos.
