Copper Country legend tells of a spirit that may be summoned through ritualistic dance. This spirit, named Heikki Lunta, brings with him the snow. His storms last for months and make travel impossible by any means save snowshoe or snowmobile.

In Fall of '06, Beth Hancock was a research student at Aeon University. Her experiments in weather control were making no progress and she had just been informed that she was losing her funding at the end of the semester. Sitting in her lab, wallowing in self pity and drinking herself into a stupor, she began stumbling around, whirling, and waving her arms. Unwittingly, she called forth Heikki Lunta. Heikki Lunta granted Beth's wish to control the weather, telling her how to mix a chemical that would imbue her with the power to control ice. What Beth did not realize until she sobered up was that the chemical had transformed her forever and that there was no way to reverse the process. Adopting the name of the winter spirit, she's now found alternate funding.
