Sunday Mourning
Character Bio
"Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living...
But this child borne on the Sabbath Day,
Is stygian and joyless; she's sickly and gray."
From "Monday's Child", a popular children's nursery rhyme retold in countless versions. This particular adaption is credited to a Sister Katherine Keen of Our Lady of Mercy Isle's Home for Foundlings & Runaways. It is the last entry scratched deeply on the back cover of the administrator's journal.
The child she referred to was never formally christened and baptized... or charged. In fact, the young lass never made a proper home through a week's passing in any facility - awaking to different doorsteps every Monday, new misfortunes by Saturday, and an inevitably lonely mourning every Sunday.
Please note, while no longer a child, she's still looking for places to rest.
