Character Bio

Astrid Berntsen has an unusually low body temperature and can depress the flow of heat within her immediate surroundings. She can create the necessary climactic conditions for ice, snow, rain and wind. Having always preferred the outdoors and the cold winters of her native Norway, she was regarded as an eccentric child until her thirteenth birthday, when she was found in a snowstorm without a coat. Not only was she unharmed, but her body was generating similar temperatures and causing ice to form indoors. Weeks of testing and prodding by doctors and government scientists forced her to flee her home and make her way to the United States, where she has found her niche as the mutant mistress of cold.
