Character Bio

Jennifer Reijnolds was born without any special abilities and raised by her mother and father, Mary-Ann Reijnolds - Weston and James Reijnolds. She had a normal life up into adulthood and met her boyfriend Jonathan at 17. A few years later she and Jonathan were strolling around the park just outside their hometown when an aircraft crashed a few hundred feet away from their location. They rushed towards the crash site to see if they could help and find any survivors. Upon arriving at the site they soon discovered that the only survivor was an old looking male dressed in unusual clothing. They took him home so they could care for him. He explained to them that he was a powerful wizard from another planet far beyond the borders of the known solar system and that Earth was in terrible danger. He was fleeing for an evil creature that wanted the crystals he was protecting. In order to protect the Earth and its people, he granted Jonathan special abilities using one of three available magic crystals. During a fierce battle with the evil creature, Jonathan was nearly killed and Jennifer asked the wizard to use another crystal to grant her powers so she could save Jonathan's life. At that point she became Gemstone and gained the ability to summon fire and use it to either wound her opponents or heal her friends. She healed Jonathan and together they defeated the evil creature. A year passed as Jonathan and Jennifer teamed up to fight evil in whatever form it would appear. But during that same year their relationship was hanging in the balance as they sometimes had conflicts about using their powers. While Jonathan craved for media attention, Jennifer wished to stay more anonymous. Eventually they broke up and Jennifer moved to a different town. There she met Denise and her sister Natalie and later co-founded the Starlight Sentinels with them.
